Most of my rides are tailored for East Coast riders, because I am set up to take YOUR bike out west for your ride, more on that in our HAUL section. But in some cases we can arrange for a rental bike out of Denver, and help you get to/from the rental location. Ask us about this option. As you compare prices for these tours, remember, they usually include rental prices, but not hauling YOUR bike from the East Coast. Each ride is tailored for very reasonable riding days - most around 100-150 miles. We limit our rides to NO MORE than 8 bikes total. It is our belief that bigger groups detract from the enjoyment of the ride. We try to get to our destination city in the early afternoon to avoid the heat of the day, and to accommodate optional afternoon and evening rides. Most of the evening rides are NOT to be missed, but if you're not feeling like an afternoon ride, you have the option to stay back and relax, do laundry, shop or go your own way. Some days have optional Sunrise rides if you're up to it. I've personally been on almost every mile of these rides, and can even guide you to the best overlooks, scenic sideroads or fun attractions. I might even know a local tavern or two. My style of riding is not fast-paced at all - and we may even turn around from time to time to get that elusive picture. You're welcome to go your own way and meet us a the end of the day, but, really, use my experience on these rides and follow along - its more fun as a group. Every night, we'll get together and discuss the next days ride - what to expect, what the weather looks like, when to expect colder temperatures, etc. Where we're allowed, we will always try for the campfire at the end of the day. Usually 5 nights per trip are at KOA Kamping Kabins and I provide those Grill Cookout meals and provide the firewood. Where fires are not permitted, we have a propane-fired campfire that is almost as good! Continental breakfasts are included at the KOA stops. Some rides I am not sure if I enjoyed the ride or the end-of-day campfire with new friends more. This is NOT a luxury ride, and I have found over many years of riding out west, that the best routine is to shoot for the rustic cabins whenever we can - KOA Kabins, National Park cabins and some private campground cabins - mixed in with periodic motels or specialty accommodations. Some of these historic cabins run over $150/night and are in SHORT supply. More on those in our ACCOMMODATIONS section. None of these states require helmets - my lawyer says I should advise you all to wear one, but it IS your option, and nobody gives anyone any crap if they wear one... or not. We always ride with me up front, and the chase truck in the back - although there will be times the truck may be elsewhere - more on that in the CHASE TRUCK section. |
